Lanark & PSGs League Withdrawal Leads to Reshuffle in West 3 Championship Contest

A quick update on the league position now that Lanark and Police Scotland Glasgow have withdrawn from West 3.

The first thing to notice is that Wigtownshire swap places with Glasgow Uni Medics, but you have to balance this against the change of the remaining fixtures, where Shire no longer have a game in hand.

Each of the three challengers have six games remaining, with crucially one against each of their Championship contenders.

Bishopton have both Wigtownshire and Glasgow Uni Medics to play at home - The Medics this weekend, whilst Shire also have The Medics at home.

We're still going with our previous predictions, with Wigtownshire to take the title and Bishopton taking second place.  We're basing this on the assumption that the Medics will lose out on their travels to their main rivals, and even if Shire lose to Bishopton, they should still be a point or two ahead.  Of course, if The Medics were to get a result against either, then that will blow the Championship wide open.

The first of the big promotion battles come this weekend when The Medics visit Bishopton; a win for Bishopton and they move ahead of The Medics into second. Wigtownshire welcome Hyndland for what should be a win with try bonus.

In the battle for fourth, Shawlands lead over Lochaber has been reduced to 6 points, whilst Shawlands no longer have their game in hand - five games remaining for each of them with only one home game each.

Shawlands remaining games include journeys to Cowal, Bishopton, Mull and Hyndland, whilst they have Cowal still to welcome to Dumbreck.

Lochabers games include away journeys to Moffat, Wigtownshire, Hyndland and Mull, as well as hosting title contenders Bishopton.

There's an outside chance that Cowal could sneak fourth, but this looks tough.  Yes, their remaining games do include Shawlands twice and Lochaber at home, but they also include Bishopton, The Medics and Wigtownshire, so they're probably just too far behind.
